Tuesday Trigger

This week's Tuesday Trigger totally reminded me of this card I made last week. So talk about deja-va when I was making my card for the challenge!

Here's the inspiration piece from The Red Thread

and my card:

I love the untraditional valentine colors! Just perfect to send to a friend! Speaking of which I need to figure out what I'm getting my best friend for her birthday which is next week. I think the only thing that we don't have in common is papercrafting! Hopefully I come up with something by this weekend when I'm hoping to go shopping - if the weather cooperates!!!

Have a good one!

Details:
Stamps - none
Ink - Smokey Shadow (PTI)
Paper - Summer Sunrise (PTI), white; Block Party (Summer Daze Collection, Flair Designs)
Accessories - Scarlett Jewel button (PTI), button twine (PTI), heart punch

Moxie Fab with a little Taintor-tude!

Have you checked out the current Moxie Fab challenge? It's based on the super fun styling of Anne Taintor! I had such fun with this challenge because I love the cheeky sayings & I've been loving the retro style from watching the first two seasons of Mad Men from Netflix.

Here's my card:

and isn't the pattern paper awesome!! I found this printable paper as a freebie on Becky Oehler's site awhile ago....I just love how it went with this picture!

Hope you all had a great day!!

Moxie Fab Color Challenge - Oh My!!

So I've been thinking and thinking and thinking...the current color challenge over at MoxieFabWorld really stumped me. Well Stephanie, that's why it's called a challenge :)

In case you haven't seen them on Cath's blog or in the latest issue of PaperCrafts, here are the colors:

told ya they're tricky!

I knew that I wanted to use my new Practicing Creativity stamps - Courtney's first set!! I adore the argyle stamps in the set. I got started & had everything on the card except the flourish. I'm not sure if I like the flourish, but I new it needed something to balance all of the blank space.

I have to say the card is growing on me....I like it a bit more each time I look at it. I definitely can't wait to use the stamps again - this time with a color combo that's more up my alley...this proves that the 70s orange shag carpet in my bedroom growing up really did scar me :)

Details:
Stamps - Key To My Heart (Practicing Creativity); Dot Flourishes (Inkadinkado); Giga Guide Lines (PTI)
Ink - Bravo Burgandy (SU!); Cool Gray & Autumn Leaf (Tsukineko)
Paper - white; Bravo Burgandy, Lavendar Lace (SU!)
Accessories - corner rounder; gray ribbon (Offray); Apricot mini jewel brads (American Crafts)

Tuesday Trigger - Olive the Other Owls

One of my favorite Christmas books to share with kids (until the cartoon came out) is Olive the Other Reindeer. Every time I use Old Olive ink or cardstock, I think of this and laugh....or in this case - hoot!

This week's Tuesday Trigger (at Moxie Fab World) is based on the cutest olive and cream owl pillow from CB2. Courtney Baker (of Everything But The Kitchen Sink fame) provided this week's trigger and it was a lot of fun....be sure to check out Courtney's blog!!

here's how I was inspired:

I embossed some foil to place behind the owls - like the gray pillow form. It's a fun & easy technique - not great for photos because of the glare. I wish (after seeing the photo) that I would have added some machine stitching - do you do that too? Think of something to add or change after you've photographed - it usually happens mid-blog for me and I'm too lazy to fix it. Maybe one day - when I have more time :)

Details:
Stamps - Friendly Forest (Colorbok)
Ink - Old Olive, Chocolate Chip
Paper - Kraft, Very Vanilla
Accessories - aluminum foil; houndstooth embossing folder, button, ribbon, button twine, scallop circle nestie

RRRuffles Have RRRidges

The current challenge over at Moxie Fab World is all about Ruffles. Do you remember those Ruffles Potato Chips commercials? I remember when we learned to trill our r's in Spanish & French and how that's all we'd say!

Here's my take on the challenge:

I ruffled the ribbon by gathering it on one side - which is super easy!! My flower is created from the security envelope that came with this month's gas bill - I just love the design!! I also stamped the kraft base with PTI's text background before rounding the corners and adding the cardstock letters.

Gotta get some sleep - my class is Skyping another class in North Carolina tomorrow.

Gradient is Radient

Whew...just in time! My original idea wasn't coming along the way I hoped, so I switched it up a little. I wanted to create a hand with a gradient of polish on the fingernails - reminds me of myself in Trade Secret trying out all of the OPI polishes that I can't remember if I have or not.

The hand looked a little odd, so I decided to stick with bottles of polish. I love how this challenge and these images go perfectly with this sentiment!

I have Glossy Accents on the bottles - the burgundy just wouldn't dry fast enough, so it's a bit cloudy in the photo. I'm through with patience at about 3pm, so this one had no chance :)

Details:
Stamps - Slumber Party (MyGrafico); sentiment (Inkadinkado)
Ink - Copics
Paper - white, black
Accessories - Glossy Accents, ribbon
