Goin' Buggy!

Well, I might be because right now I'm at one of my favorite shopping locations - Easton Shopping Center in Columbus, Ohio. As you read this post, I could be checking out all the cool stuff at Crate & Barrel and Pottery Barn....maybe I'm trying to be good at Archivers...I know I'll be thinking about food trying to decide on what to eat at Bon Vie so I still have enough room for their heavenly desserts. This trip isn't for the faint of heart - my best friend and I leave at 6am and won't return until 2 or 3am the next night. And it's worth every minute!!!

Alright Stephanie...get back to business!!

Here's the get well card I made for a Children's Hospital Swap I'm participating in over at SCS. I love that the Misti, our hostess, will be donating the +1 card to a Children's Hospital rather than keep them for her part of the swap. How generous!!

I knew that I wanted to use my Cookie Crumbs Get Well Critters set from C.C. Designs. I just love how fun these images are, and those sentiments just crack me up! I paper pieced that little bug with some fun polka dot paper from DCWV Fun in the Sun matstack. I can't believe how well my ribbon matched the dp!! Another score from the ribbon outlet - now if I could just find a place to store it all and keep it easily accessible :)

Here's the view of the inside of the card. I wanted to keep it simple because it's a swap. In fact, I don't know if I was supposed to do that or not - oh well...I like that little extra touch.

Details:
Stamps - Get Well Critters (Cookie Crumbs for C.C. Designs)
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black; Copics (G21, BG10, C-3, C-5)
Paper - white, Soft Sky, green (Archivers), DCWV Fun in the Sun matstack
Accessories - ribbon (Offray)

Hope you're having a great day!! And I hope I come back with more than a nickel to my name :)

I'm Chicken!

My mom went to the doctor a few days ago because she had a terrible rash on her back. She was in a lot of pain but thought she got poison oak from working outside. Nope....she has shingles. And to boot, an acute bout of them. She is in so much pain and other than pain meds there's nothing to do except wait.
Even worse, I can't help her out at all. I've never had the chicken pox nor have I gotten the vaccine (okay, okay, I know I should get it). She can't give shingles to anyone else, but she can give the chicken pox virus out. So, I'm staying far away. As a child, I remember sitting next to kids who came down with the itchy red dots. Yet, it just passed me by. I may be immune, but now is not the time to find out. I've always heard how dangerous it can be to get the chicken pox as an adult.
So my card is completely fitting for my mom in a few ways - the chicken, the red dots, the sentiment, and the fact that she got me this set for my birthday.
Along the left side of the card, I used my Scor-Pal to create a grid and then punched holes along the border. I placed a piece of Real Red cardstock on the back then covered it completely with a white panel to finish it off. I love all the elements of dots - especially when you think what the card is for.
Here's a photo of the inside:

You Cured?

What a busy day! I got up early and went to my aerobics class (ugh - I just wanted to sleep in). From there I ran errands, which involved shopping :). I got some new stamps - I better get my butt in gear because I have a lot of new goodies that need inkin'!

I also got the cutest new lunch bag by BYO at Staples.

Mine has different colored polka dots (pinks, oranges, lime green, and browns). It folds nice and flat for storage - I can't believe I already did some back to school shopping.

I returned home with a delicious burrito from Chipotle and had to call the cable company because my cable wasn't working properly. Amazingly, the guy came out within 30 minutes and fixed the problem.

I then got to finish this card that I started last night while watching The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

It's for my best friend who had surgery today to remove a kidney stone. I just love this set (Get Well Critters) from C.C.Designs. The little piggy's bed linens are paper pieced. She's doing great, so I'll drop the card in the mail tomorrow. I kept teasing that her doctor needed to take care of this, so we could take our annual trip to Columbus, Ohio (<-if you can, go to Easton Shopping Center & eat at Bon Vie).
